Performances, Zeffa
Traditional Wedding Procession “Zeffa”
A Zeffa is a joyous Egyptian wedding procession frequently led by a belly dancer usually wearing a shamadan (a large candelabra balanced on the dancers head) and playing the zeffa rhythm on finger cymbals. It is used to introduce the newly married couple to the wedding guests in the reception hall and is a great way to make an entrance!

We can provide a solo or group bellydance performance as part of your evening entertainment. It’s a great way to get people up dancing!
Whether you want a traditional wedding “zaffa” to your top table and/or more of a show we are willing to work with you to make your day truly memorable!

Performance Options
We can provide a solo belly dancer or you can book several of us for a group bellydance performance as part of your entertainment. We can dance with a variety of props- Veils, Cane, Shamadan, Zills, Wings, Tabla for extra wow factor.
We do not do just Egyptian bellydance but are trained in other bellydance styles including Turkish and Lebanese.
We are experienced in working with live music from Middle Eastern bands as well as with pre-recorded music.
We performed a variety of Middle Eastern folkloric and modern styles of dance that we can incorporate in our sets (depending on suitability). Examples include Saidi, Khaleegi, Kolbasti and Algerian amongst others.
Sorry we do not dance for all male groups and our dancers may be accompanied for gigs. Our entertainment is family friendly. For more conservative functions we can wear more covered costumes. Just ask.

Example performance set
Our standard sets are perfect for parties and restaurants and very budget friendly.
They usually comprise:
15-30 minute performance set by 1 dancer (cost varies with length).

Starts with 1 or 2 performance/ entrance songs. Usually with prop(s) (prop choice space dependent).

If a birthday we get the birthday girl/boy up for a dance

Audience participation dancing

If a birthday the quote usually includes a complimentary hipscarf for the birthday girl/boy.

We usually bring a dressing up bag containing hipscarves and fezs
-
We can provide more dancers for your occasion to do more of a group show.

Options of music/ style/ costume/ format/ surprise (?) always discussed. We provide a bespoke service.

we can split our set into, for example, 2 15 minute slots with costume change. We charge a bit more for this than for a single set.

Options and Ideas
Whether you are looking for a fun beginners’ belly dance workshop, a school workshop for Egyptian history or diversity days, something for a ladies party, a corporate team building event, or you belly dance and fancy something a bit more challenging, or even a bellydance talk and taster, our teachers with their accumulated knowledge are a great option! Whatever you want just ask- Our teachers can provide tailored workshops to your request.
We can combine workshops with performances (for examples see our hen party packages) and will provide a bespoke professional service.
We work with many groups and organisations including schools, womens networking groups, private businesses, charities, festival organisers and community groups.
SAED teachers are skilled in various aspects of Egyptian dance and other styles, from classical to modern oriental bellydance styles, to more folkloric dances like saidi. Want to know how to use props- yes we cover that too!
We also teach folkloric and ‘street’ dance styles from the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.
SAED also has Esther who is a qualified makeup artist. She can provide makeup workshops specifically for the needs of dancers.
Children's Ancient Egyptian Dance Workshop
Great for Schools. Pupils will engage in some traditional Egyptian music and dance. During the workshop they will learn basic drum rhythms and use these in a traditional line dance. They will also look at some traditional costuming and have a short talk in the history of this dance. The workshop is delivered by an experienced and qualified teacher. Full DBS.
